Words do hurt part two

Tuesday December 1 2009 time second period in a high school class room Mr_______ (a special ed teacher) and the students of the class including AZ.
AZ: Aww Mr.___ why did u have to put in 0 for this chapter .( I had to work three days to finish a worksheet)I now had 25 and my mom yelled at me.
Mr.___: You earned it AZ you say you will do it and never do
the other students are inside the classroom now. Mr.___ is about to give a lecture
Mr.___: Who says we need so more troops all we have to do is send AZ and the Iraqis will heProxy-Connection: keep-alive
Cache-Control: max-age=0

she is coming and run away,
Mr. ____ is a special Education teacher who made fun of me. it is nor funny to me. Mr.B knows I do not have lots of friends and by caking a joke he is making a emphasis on this fact and that I should be avoided . When I was in third grade i remember being called Ronzilla and people running away from me. Ir was coined by a boy who made fun of my speech kids would call it and run away from me on the playground. Did Mr________ know this on Tuesday when he told the joke no but he still should not have done it should he?
stay posted for how it turns out I tried to talk to Mr.____ but could not. For anyone who dose know me in real life I am really interested in what you have to say.

Table for 12

I know everyone heard of John and Kate plus 8 ether  from tabloids or  television and with that  ending    there is nothing  worth  watching  on TLC about a family     who has a lot of kids  age 13 and younger .. or  is there.

Meet The  Hayes   Betty and  Eric who have  ten kids  and  although they do not go  out that often, when they do they  get  a table for 12,  The  Hayes have   two set of twins and sextuplets  one of them  has  severe cerebral   palsy. If you are wondering why that sounds  familiar I have CP  as well.   You can  learn  more about the  hayes  by   watching this  clip  below.

Murphy's law : A disabled advocate's perspective

Who ever said  Friday the 13 was  a bad luck day is  wrong . It is  Monday the 16 which  is also known as  today . Today I was suppose to have a Including Samuel party after school  with my disability awareness club. Well  all  seemed to start out well  but then  it  happened  the school had  a black out second period.   I   started to worry,    By the end of third  period things were looking worse the power to the whole school  was  off.  (In my second period the lights were on but the computers were off)  so  during fifth period  administration  told us to go home .    In our school once kids leave they normally do not come back,  (it was rumored that PGE  were going to get the  lights  by two. )     So   I am not  feeling so well but I am hoping  we will host  the movie  soon.

Book excert again

last year when I posted this no one commented so hopefully this year will be different.

posted 10/29/08

The Invisible teens is about six middle school students who have disabilities/ Alexis Bounding is the character that has a lot of my personalty in it, She Has mild Cp and has NLD as well. This excerpt will help u get to know Alexis Bounding more I hope y like it.
Do Not Not Copy without my permission ( I am a reasonable girl all y need to do is ask and include the link to my blog
The bell rang and the teacher came inside with the girl who dropped off her brother and introduced herself again took the morning role and handed out a packet of papers. Among them was a syllabus of the class, a list of required mar tiles we would need for herProxy-Connection: keep-alive

lass, a concert sheet that she used
to keep in touch with our parents or guardians and a homework colander that we get every Monday for the remainder of the year . “Okay guys now I want to see if you guys studied for the capitals this summer,” Ms Cronic said. “Now what we will do is start here,” Ms .Cronic pointed to the desk on next to mine. “When I point at you introduce yourself and then recite the state’s name and its capitol.”
The boy beside me said ”My name is Joel Anderson. The started Ms.Cronic is pointing to is Nevada and its capitol is Carson City”.
“Your turn,” she says to me.
“I’m Alixes Bounding. The state Ms.Cronic is pointing to is Alaska and its capitol is Juneau.”
“What” she said. The whole class energy was on me it was if my cell phone had went off in the middle of class.
“My name is Alixes Bounding. The state Ms.Cronic is pointing to is Alaska and its capitol is Juneau.”
“Alyssa whets the state’s.”
“My name is Alixes not Alyssa”
“Alixes “ she said looking at the seating chart.
“ My name is Alixes Bounding. The state Ms.Cronic is pointing to is Alaska and its capitol is Juneau.”
“No not Shasta” I saw two girls whispering and could bet you it was about me. I knew the state’s name . The teacher was mocking me by saying things that was anything but the state’s name. I wanted out of the chair away from this mortification.

“Alaska Alaska,” I said
hoping someone would understand me .
“I’ll help you out the state’s name is Alaska . What’s the capitol?” Ms.Cronic said.
“I know it’s Alaska and the capitol is Juneau,” I said.
“What?”
“Juneau,”
“Jupiter” said the teacher, ”sorry honey that’s a name of a planet”. Looking at Joel Anderson I could tell he was trying hard not to laugh. When I did this he began to giggle and so did a fewer others.
“Juneau,” said one of my classmates. I turn around to see a girl blond hair and hazel eyes whose t- shirt said born to play Soccer written in bubble letter the girk who droped off her brother
“Vary good . The capitol of Alaska is. ” said Ms. Cronic.
“ Jupiter” said Joel Anderson. The giggling that had continued picked up the rest of the class except for the girl, the teacher
“Hay that’s not funny,” said Ms. Cronic, “everybody makes mistakes. Alixes just got confused that’s all. Now who is next .”

(I am a few days shy of being 2 months)

( It was pretty big on me)

Who is this  guy  holding me never mind it is just my dad
(Me and my Mom. Do you see  the yellow and red thing behind
the couch just above my mom's shoulder?
That was a reaching thing.

There is hope

One thing before I start. My back is spasming so any prayers for a quick recovery will be much appreciated.

Last Saturday was the Special Olympics play day. I love this day. It is for preschooler with special needs. There is basketball, bowling, dancing, biking, running, arts and crafts, parachutes and golf.

If anyone has not heard today golf became a Olympic sport. Golf is one of my favorite sports. I have played golf for the local Special Olympics and for my high school for the past three years. I love playing golf for my school. GO is really great guy he gets it. He is a former special education teacher who believes in inclusion. GO has let me play on the practice team and although I have never played a match I get to play on the course. He sometimes pushes me hard to do things I do not want to do. (More on this latter)He lets me be on the team. I may not play in the match however I have a uniform and am involved in all the fundraising and it means a lot to me . I love golf I may not be the best but I like it all the same.

So as I watched the little kids with disabilities play mini golf . There is that glimmer of hope for inclusion on a golf team in high school . The kid may only be on the prat ice team like I have been, but the kid will earn a spot through hard work. Like I am trying to do on Tuesday rain or shine. Although sun will be better. No matter if I play or not there will still be hope for the little kids because of GO. It is amazing how one person can give a glimmer of hope.

Best doctor's visit ever

(About to have a shot at the UCSF children's clinic fall 2007)
Yesterday I had a Dr's visit. It was at the teen clinic at UCSF. the place where my mom works. it was my first time in the clinic and guess what I actually want to go back why. The attendant was really nice and we talked about school and stuff . My mom said we were in there way too long. Mom was in there for the entire afternoon. Then the doctor came in and we all talked and guess what I might speak to the medical students about being a teenager with disabilities and in a few weeks I will get a cool new blog about a young adult with a disability (cp to be exact) who goes to UC Berkley. I can not wait especially since I am about to make that big transition myself. wow

Another Poem for the web

(Me in Disneyland next to my beloved childhood movie icon the aliens summer 2006 Princess is next to me )
Do not stereotype me

Just because I’m disabled
I’m not a science fair project so please do not stare.
Ask a question?
I do not mind
And have the time
To spare.
I’m not trying to talk weir d so do not take it as such
And I am not slow hate and I it when people think I am.

Just because I’m disable
I don’t enjoy teasing or bullying so think before you speak
I’m not a product of an accident that should not have been here
I don’t just wonder around aimlessly
And I don’t know any one with a disability who dose.

Just because I’m disabled
I’m not a baby even if I wish I were on hard days
I don’t have a sickness or illness
And I don’t plan to be a burden to my society my whole life.
In fact I want to enrich my community

Just because I’m disabled
Don’t me that you are more perfect then me
Smarter then me

who said Hunting and baskets are for little kids

well I am here to tell u that is not always the case. Easter is tomorrow and with that comes egg hunt. Egg hunt are fun but who said the fun must end when you turn 12. I am here to tell y in our house we have a money hunt how dose it work u ask let me tell you. the plastic eggs you know the ones that pop open are all you need and some eager tweens or teens. Have someone hide the plastic eggs and let the teens go lose. At the end make sure everyone gets a even adamant of money.

for kids or teens with special needs It is critical if they look or move slower to give them a head start and have someone help them this is what normally happens with me for past egg /money hunts
I hope these tips help everyone have a fun and safe Easter

what happends if people with disablities are given a chancee

all three of these young men need to start a foundation because not all disabled athletes are not as lucky. These coaches took a chance and that means a lot. I hope this trend can spreed across the world this is inclusion at it finest

WORDS DO HURT End the R word

This old post is what I wrote last Augest. It is not about the r word but it goes right along with this topic

I remember when I was little and my dad told me that "Sticks and Stones can break your bones but words can never hurt you. Well I don't think it is true... Wait let me rephrase that it is . Princess and book gal have a easy cry baby that would me. My dad says that I am too sensitive and tells me to ignore it. That is the bad advice that you can give a victim of bullying disabled or not .Still don't believe me okay here comes a story

In sixth grade my mom and dad through that I should have one class in special education called RSP. it basically is a study hall with a special needs teacher who helps you do the work. Well in Sixth grade I had a guy in my class who always said I was a loner and no one played with me. I told the teacher and she said to ignore it because he was from a bad family and needed attention. Well I never could ignore it and I spent the remainder of my first middle school year yelling at him back and froth.

The school thorough I had behavior problems so in seventh grade I was put into a RSP room with a strict teacher and mean kids. Man did I hate that class. There were three other kids in the class who teased me and like the guy in 6th grade all of them came from middle class families trying to make ends meet. What made it worse was that there was a nice RSP room with good kids who teacher was nice. I also was the only one with my teachers on my RSP teacher case load The nice one had the others.

On Wednesdays were the hardest day of the week. The teacher had meetings that day and we were under supervision of a sub. One peculiar Wednesday a girl said that the entire 7th grade hated me. She was training for a peer helper and the class was talking about me and how much they hated me. My aid talked to me and sat by me during my next class and we talked to the head teacher(Who is a great guy that i had for math the next year) who told me that they had been talking about how to treat someone with a disability and my name came up. Someone did not learn their lesson.

Words do hurt and schools need to be aware of this and help those getting teased and don't tell them to ignore it . Think about it this way if your son/ daughter fell and scarped his/her knee you wipe it up right. Well bullying is like that only the cut is invisible It's a cut to the child self esteem

A great song with even better pictures

this relates to the post below. My favorite pic is the transition from MLK to Obama. We watched a movie not to long a go about Steven harking. He can only talk with a computer but he is so smart. He is a perfect example of do not judge a book by it's cover.

Look how far americans have came

I got this via email on thursday from my mom it comes at a perfect time since we are studying the Civil rights movement in school right now,

THEN:
A Black girl escorted to school - 1960

On November 14, 1960, nearly 49 years ago, 6 year old Ruby Bridges faced hostile crowds, and had to be escorted by U.S. Marshalls , because she was the first black child to attend previously all-white William Frantz Elementary School in New Orleans , Louisiana . Ruby was 6 years old. (The Great Norman Rockwell created the painting above depicting that event.)

That morning, she had only been told by her mother that she was going to be attending a new school that day and 'had better behave.' Little did little Ruby know that she would be bombarded with jeers and even death threats; and that she would end up being the sole child in her first grade class because all the other children were kept home by their parents. All because Ruby was Black.

NOW:
A Black girl escorted to school - 2009

On January 5, 2009, nearly 49 years after Ruby attended her school, 7 year old Sasha Obama, faced cheering schoolmates as she is escorted by her Mother and U. S. Secret Service Agents to Sidwell Friends Elementary School in Washington , DC . Her Mother, the current First Lady of the United States of America , had Secret Service escort because Sasha's daddy is now the 44th President of the United States , Barack Obama.

School parternship program

Today I got to represent my high school in the first ever special Olympics youth summit for the bay area. I was the only Representative from my high school . The day started out with leadership and what it takes to be a great leader. ( friendly nice lovable were some I remember) . We listened to Soren speech about the dread r word had a scavenger hunt and I got to share about what it's like to have the best of both word: having a disability and being smart, but at the same time being so isolated from my peers at lunch time.

In the end each school got together to make a leadership plain for spreding disability awareness around the school. ( the students were special and typical high school and middle collage students) I was the only one from my high school but after some encouragement came up with some idea. The best one is a disability week ( or day) for the entire student body along with helping at a young athlete day in may.
I had so much fun and met so Meany new people. ( and saw some some b ball friends from HMB). I am exacted to get more people at my high school aware about disability awareness at my high school. I am hoping that students ( and staff )see that we ( disabled individuals) have more ABILITIES then disabilities .
to learn more about the program visit this
website
http://www.specialolympics.org/project_unify.aspx and poke around it is new and improved stick around to here how it goes at my high school.

Down for the count

No I am not  sick or tiered  I  have lost my inner drive to do well. On Thursday was my IEP and guess what guess  what   I get do   in   fall summer   2010  live in a group home and  work  at Safeway because  I don't have the skills  to live on my own and  interact with people.   Mr  W   said this at my meeting    he   talked to my parents  and  told them  to sign me  up for  services for  job training   and a group  home.

I have been  in  mainstreamed since kindergarten. Has it been easy ? No.   Do I  have  social skills    problems? Yes.  I am  smart  yes .  So much  for   independence in  09.  I can't  believe he said  these things instead of  giving me hope.  He saw me the day before and  he did not even brother to tell me   so I could be  papered   or   better yet sent me  out of the room I  feel   like    giving up.  It is Saturday night I can not  bring myself to do my homework.   i mean  why   try  if  I can not  do it.  I talked to LG    and she agreed  with  him . She is not my  friend anymore .  I  wish  i had someone   my age to   support my hopes and  dreams. MY dad says let it go.   I can  not let it go  it hurts  it not what i planed when I was little. I wanted to be a mom. Now  looks like  I will be   a   child  forever.  My only regret   is that  people tricked  me  when  i was  little.  yeah   I am down for the count
